No, the confirmation fee is not refundable.

We understand that families' financial needs vary, which is why we don't have a hard deadline to pay the confirmation fee, to allow families time to pay the fee. However, we also don't want the confirmation fee to hinder a student's opportunity to attend UIW. Please contact the Office of Admissions at admission@uiwtx.edu or (210) 829-6005 for assistance.

Incoming freshman students for summer or fall must complete a questionnaire to assist with registration. The advising questionnaire will be available in May each year. Students who have confirmed their attendance and submitted their proof of Meningitis vaccination to UIW will receive the link to complete the advising questionnaire via email.

UIW accepts AP credits for tests with scores of 3 or higher. For a full list of AP courses accepted, click here.

A course that is normally considered part of a bachelor's degree program will be accepted in transfer. A course with a grade of less than D- will not be accepted in transfer.

Once you submit your advising questionnaire, the University Advising Office will begin working on your class schedule. You will receive your schedule 2 - 3 business days before your selected orientation date or after your questionnaire has been received.

It is highly recommended that all new, incoming students attend orientation. During orientation, you will have access to sessions with important information such as Business Office policies, Financial Aid information, student services available to you as a new student, and other important and fun activities.

Students will have an opportunity to hear presentations from the Business Office, Financial Aid and other Student Service representatives to learn more about what to expect as a UIW Cardinal.

You should receive your UIW credentials within 2 - 3 days of your payment being processed. The UIW Help Desk will send you an email with your UIW email address and instructions on how to log into Cardinal Apps. Be sure to check your spam/junk folder for the email.

No, you can submit an unofficial transcript to assist in the admissions decision. However, you will be required to submit a final, official high school transcript before the start of fall classes.

UIW is test optional/test blind, meaning you may submit your SAT or ACT scores but they will not be considered for admissions or scholarship. These scores can be used to determine appropriate math placement. If you plan to submit test scores, an official report must be received from the testing center. You can request your score be sent to UIW by listing our code when you register for the exam. Our code for the SAT is 6303, and ACT is 4106. If you are unable to have your test scores mailed, you can export them from the College Board website in PDF format and email it to us at admissiondocs@uiwtx.edu

You may submit your vaccination record in PDF format to registrar@uiwtx.edu. Be sure to include your PIDM (UIW ID) or date of birth. The Office of Admissions cannot accept meningitis medical records.

Texas State Law mandates that all students under the age of 22 entering a Texas college or university provide proof of vaccination against bacterial meningitis during the five years preceding admission to the University. 

Note: You must have your meningitis shot on record, if applicable, to enroll in classes and apply for on-campus housing.

It is important that you visit your family doctor or local pharmacy to get your meningitis vaccination. Students will not be allowed to register for fall classes until proof of vaccination is submitted.

The TSI is required if you did not score a 550 or above on the SAT Math portion or 22 on the ACT math portion. Passing the TSI will allow you to be placed in a college level math course. Students who do not pass the TSI will be placed in a remedial math course.

ALEKS PPL will accurately measure your math foundation and will create a personalized learning module for you to review and refresh your math knowledge. This allows you to be placed correctly in the right course, expediting your path to complete your degree.

Students can complete the UIW Mathematics Placement through ALEKS Placement, Preparation and Learning (PPL).

If you took and passed a college level math class as dual credit, you do not need to take the ALEKS. Please contact the Office of Admissions to verify the college math class qualifies for dual credit.

You will need to contact the school where you took the test for a copy of your score. If you took the test in high school, contact your high school counselor.
